Wear Resistant Tungsten Carbide Fasteners are precision-engineered fastening components manufactured from tungsten carbide (WC) with a metallic cobalt or nickel binder through powder metallurgy and HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) sintering processes. These fasteners are specifically designed for applications where extreme wear, abrasion, and corrosion cause conventional steel or stainless steel fasteners to fail prematurely.
The exceptional wear resistance of tungsten carbide fasteners comes from the material’s extreme hardness (HRA 86–93) and high density (14.0–15.0 g/cm³). In abrasive environments — such as those found in chemical processing, mining, oil and gas drilling, and industrial machinery — carbide fasteners maintain their dimensions and clamping force far longer than steel fasteners. Depending on the application, tungsten carbide fasteners can outlast steel fasteners by 10 to 50 times.
Tungsten carbide fasteners also offer excellent corrosion resistance, making them suitable for chemical processing, marine, and other corrosive environments. Nickel-bonded grades (YWN series) provide enhanced corrosion resistance for highly aggressive media.
