Description Of OEM Customized Size Tungsten Carbide Punching Needle

OEM Customized Size Tungsten Carbide Punching Needle is a precision-engineered punching tool manufactured from tungsten carbide (WC) with a metallic cobalt binder through powder metallurgy and HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) sintering processes. The “OEM customized size” designation means each needle is manufactured to customer-specific drawings and specifications, including diameter, length, tip geometry, tolerance, and surface finish.

Tungsten carbide punching needles are used in stamping dies, progressive dies, connector pin insertion, medical device manufacturing, and electronic component production. They must withstand high-impact forces, repetitive cycling, and abrasive workpiece materials while maintaining precise dimensions and sharp cutting edges. Tungsten carbide offers the ideal combination of extreme hardness (HRA 88–94), high transverse rupture strength (up to 4,000 N/mm²), and excellent wear resistance — typically 10 to 50 times longer service life than tool steel punches.

The manufacturing process begins with high-purity tungsten carbide powder (100% virgin raw material) with an ultra-fine grain size (0.2–0.8 μm), mixed with a cobalt binder. The powder is ball-milled, pressed into needle blanks, vacuum-sintered, and HIP-densified to achieve uniform microstructure and near-theoretical density. The needles are then precision-ground on advanced CNC grinders using diamond wheels to achieve the exact diameter, tip angle, and surface finish. Coatings such as TiN, TiAlN, TiCN, or DLC can be applied to further enhance wear resistance and reduce friction.

OEM customized size tungsten carbide punching needles are available in a wide range of diameters, lengths, and tip geometries to suit different stamping and punching applications. Custom sizes and tolerances are available upon request.

Features Of OEM Customized Size Tungsten Carbide Punching Needle

Extreme Hardness: Hardness of HRA 88–94 provides superior wear resistance and extends service life in high-cycle punching applications.

High Transverse Rupture Strength (TRS): TRS values up to 4,000 N/mm² provide the toughness needed to withstand high-impact forces without fracture.

Precision Machining: Tight tolerances down to ±0.001mm and surface roughness Ra ≤0.2μm ensure precise fit and reliable performance.

Excellent Wear Resistance: Wear resistance 10 to 50 times that of tool steel, significantly reducing replacement frequency and downtime.

Multiple Grades Available: Available in YG6X, YG8, YG10X, YL10.2, K05UF, K10, and custom compositions.

Coatings Available: TiN, TiAlN, TiCN, and DLC coatings can be applied for enhanced wear resistance and reduced friction.

100% Virgin Raw Materials: Manufactured from 100% virgin tungsten carbide powder, ensuring consistent quality and superior performance.

HIP Sintering Process: Advanced HIP sintering produces needles with uniform microstructure, minimal porosity, and superior mechanical properties.
