Description Of Customized Tungsten Carbide Ring

Customized Tungsten Carbide Ring is a precision-engineered annular component manufactured from tungsten carbide (WC) with a metallic cobalt binder through powder metallurgy and HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) sintering processes. The “customized” designation means each ring is manufactured to customer-specific drawings and specifications, including inner diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), thickness, tolerances, surface finish, and material grade.

Tungsten carbide rings are used in applications where extreme wear, corrosion, and high pressures are present. They serve as mechanical seal rings, wear rings, bearing rings, guide rings, and structural components in pumps, compressors, valves, and rotating equipment. Tungsten carbide offers the ideal combination of extreme hardness (HRA 87–92), high density (14.0–15.0 g/cm³), excellent wear resistance, high compressive strength, and outstanding corrosion resistance.

The manufacturing process begins with high-purity tungsten carbide powder (100% virgin raw material) mixed with cobalt binder, followed by ball milling, pressing into ring blanks, high-temperature vacuum sintering, and HIP densification to achieve uniform microstructure and near-theoretical density. The rings are then precision-ground, lapped, and polished to achieve the final dimensions and surface finish. The lapped surface can achieve Ra ≤0.05μm for sealing applications.

Customized tungsten carbide rings are available in a wide range of sizes and grades to meet diverse application requirements across pump, seal, bearing, chemical, and general wear industries. Custom sizes and tolerances are available upon request.

Applications Of Customized Tungsten Carbide Ring

Mechanical Seals: Customized tungsten carbide rings are used as rotating and stationary seal rings in mechanical seals for pumps, compressors, and agitators. The lapped faces ensure reliable sealing and minimal leakage.

Bearings and Bushings: Carbide rings serve as bearing rings and bushings in pumps, motors, and rotating equipment. The polished surface reduces friction and wear, extending bearing life.

Wear Rings and Guide Rings: Tungsten carbide rings are used as wear rings and guide rings in pumps, valves, and hydraulic cylinders, protecting critical surfaces from abrasion and corrosion.

Chemical Processing: Carbide rings are used in chemical pumps, reactors, and heat exchangers where they resist corrosion from acids, alkalis, and aggressive chemicals.

Oil and Gas: Tungsten carbide rings are used in downhole tools, mud pumps, and valve components, withstanding abrasive drilling fluids and high pressures.

Industrial Machinery: Carbide rings are used in mixers, extruders, crushers, and other heavy machinery subject to abrasion and corrosion.

Precautions Of Customized Tungsten Carbide Ring

Installation: Tungsten carbide rings must be properly installed to ensure optimal performance. Follow the equipment manufacturer's installation instructions carefully. Use appropriate installation techniques to avoid damaging the precision surfaces. Press-fit rings should be installed using proper tools and controlled force.

Handling and Storage: Tungsten carbide rings are hard but brittle. Handle with care to avoid chipping or cracking. Store in a dry, clean environment to prevent contamination. Protect lapped surfaces from damage during storage and transport.

Surface Protection: The precision lapped surfaces are susceptible to contamination and damage. Handle with clean gloves to avoid skin oils and salts. Protect surfaces with appropriate covers during storage and transport.

Compatibility Verification: Before ordering, verify that the grade, dimensions, and tolerances are compatible with your specific equipment and operating conditions.

Quality Assurance: Ensure that the supplier provides material certification including chemical composition, hardness, density, TRS values, dimensional inspection reports, and compliance with relevant standards (ISO 9001:2015).
