Description Of Polished Tungsten Carbide Tube

Polished Tungsten Carbide Tube is a precision-engineered cylindrical component manufactured from tungsten carbide (WC) with a metallic cobalt binder through powder metallurgy and HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) sintering processes. The tube features a precision ground and polished inner and outer surface, achieving low friction, smooth flow characteristics, and tight dimensional tolerances for demanding industrial applications.

The manufacturing process begins with high-purity tungsten carbide powder (100% virgin raw material) mixed with cobalt binder, followed by ball milling, pressing into tube blanks, high-temperature vacuum sintering, and HIP densification to achieve uniform microstructure and near-theoretical density. The sintered tubes then undergo precision grinding, honing, and polishing to achieve the final dimensions and surface finish. The polished surface is typically Ra ≤0.2μm, and can be further refined to Ra ≤0.05μm for critical applications.

Polished tungsten carbide tubes inherit all the exceptional properties of tungsten carbide: extreme hardness (HRA 87–92), high density (14.0–15.0 g/cm³), excellent wear resistance, high compressive strength, good transverse rupture strength (up to 3,000 N/mm²), and excellent thermal and chemical stability. The polished surface further enhances these properties by reducing friction, improving flow efficiency, and minimizing material buildup or adhesion.

Applications Of Polished Tungsten Carbide Tube

Nozzles and Orifices: Polished tungsten carbide tubes are widely used as nozzles and orifices in high-pressure water jetting, sandblasting, spray systems, and fuel injection. The polished bore ensures smooth flow, accurate spray patterns, and long service life under abrasive conditions.

Bearings and Bushings: Carbide tubes serve as bearing sleeves and bushings in pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment. The polished surface reduces friction and wear, extending bearing life and improving efficiency.

Seals and Wear Rings: Polished tungsten carbide tubes are used as seal rings and wear rings in mechanical seals, pumps, and valves. The precision-polished faces ensure reliable sealing and minimal leakage.

Wear Parts for Pumps and Valves: Carbide tubes are used as wear-resistant liners and sleeves in slurry pumps, mud pumps, and chemical pumps, protecting the pump casing and shaft from abrasive wear and corrosion.

Precision Measurement and Gauging: Polished carbide tubes are used in gauge blocks, measuring fixtures, and inspection tools where dimensional stability and wear resistance are essential.

Medical and Dental Instruments: Carbide tubes are used in surgical instruments, dental handpieces, and biopsy needles where precision and corrosion resistance are critical.

Textile and Wire Industries: Polished carbide tubes serve as guide tubes and wire drawing capstans, providing smooth, low-friction surfaces for wire and yarn.
