Description Of Zirconium Round Bar
Zirconium Round Bar is a solid cylindrical bar manufactured from zirconium and zirconium alloys through vacuum arc remelting (VAR), forging, hot rolling, cold finishing, and precision machining. It is available in unalloyed zirconium grades Zr702 (UNS R60702) and Zr704 (UNS R60704), as well as zirconium-niobium alloy Zr705 (UNS R60705). These materials offer a unique combination of properties that make them indispensable in the most demanding environments.
Zirconium possesses outstanding corrosion resistance in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid, and strong alkalis. It is immune to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. Its low thermal neutron absorption cross-section makes it the material of choice for nuclear reactor components. Additionally, zirconium has good formability and weldability, allowing it to be machined, bent, and welded into complex shapes.
Zirconium round bars are widely used in chemical processing equipment, nuclear reactors, heat exchangers, condensers, reaction vessels, piping, pumps, valves, medical devices, and aerospace components. They are available in diameters from 6mm to 150mm, with custom sizes upon request. Surface finishes include pickled, machined, and polished. All products comply with ASTM B550 / ASME SB-550 and are manufactured under ISO 9001 quality systems.
Features Of Zirconium Round Bar
High Purity: Zr + Hf ≥ 99.2% for Zr702 and Zr704; Zr + Hf ≥ 95.5% for Zr705, ensuring consistent performance.
Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Resists hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, acetic acid, and strong alkalis. Immune to stress corrosion cracking.
Low Neutron Absorption: Low thermal neutron absorption cross-section for nuclear applications.
Good Formability: Can be machined, bent, and welded into complex shapes.
Good Weldability: Can be welded using TIG and electron beam welding in inert gas atmospheres.
High Melting Point: 1852°C (Zr702) and 1840°C (Zr705) for high-temperature applications.
Low Density: 6.51 g/cm³ (Zr702) and 6.64 g/cm³ (Zr705), lighter than steel and many refractory metals.
Low Thermal Expansion: Ensures dimensional stability under thermal cycling.
Customizable Dimensions: Diameters 6–150mm, custom lengths and surface finishes available.
Standard Compliance: ASTM B550 / ASME SB-550.
ISO 9001 Certified: Full traceability and quality assurance.
