Description Of Niobium Titanium Alloy Rod Nb47Ti
Niobium Titanium Alloy Rod Nb47Ti is a binary niobium-titanium alloy bar manufactured to ASTM B884 standard. The alloy contains 46%–48% titanium (nominal 47%) with niobium as the balance, specifically designed for superconducting applications. Nb47Ti is the most widely used superconducting material, combining excellent superconducting properties with good strength and ductility.
ASTM B884 covers niobium-titanium alloy billets, bars, and rods at 46% to 48% titanium. This material is used in the manufacture of wire for superconducting applications. Nb47Ti alloy has a two-phase microstructure (β phase matrix with α-Ti precipitates) that provides effective flux pinning, enabling high critical current density in superconducting wires.
Nb47Ti alloy is primarily used for superconducting materials and as an intermediate alloy for titanium alloys. In superconducting applications, it is used for ITER project wires, MRI/NMR equipment superconducting magnets, and particle accelerator magnets. The material exhibits excellent process plasticity and can be drawn into fine superconducting wires.
Our Nb47Ti niobium titanium alloy rods are available in custom diameters, including large-size bars (≥Ф140mm). Typical room-temperature tensile strength is ≥350 MPa, yield strength ≥330 MPa, and elongation ≥20%. Surface finishes include machined, polished, and annealed.
