Descriptions Of ASTM B393 Niobium Ring

ASTM B393 Niobium Ring is a high-performance annular component manufactured from niobium and niobium alloy strip, sheet, or plate to ASTM B393 standard. Niobium is a silver-grey refractory metal with a melting point of 2477°C, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior superconducting properties. These rings are essential components in some of the most demanding applications, including superconducting particle accelerators, nuclear reactors, and high-temperature assemblies.

The ASTM B393 standard covers five grades of wrought niobium and niobium alloy strip, sheet, and plate: R04200-Type 1 (reactor grade unalloyed niobium), R04210-Type 2 (commercial grade unalloyed niobium), R04251-Type 3 (reactor grade niobium alloy containing 1% zirconium), R04261-Type 4 (commercial grade niobium alloy containing 1% zirconium), and R04220-Type 5 (RRR grade pure niobium). These grades offer different combinations of purity, strength, and corrosion resistance to suit specific application requirements.

Niobium rings are widely used in superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities for particle accelerators, where niobium’s superconducting properties enable efficient acceleration of charged particles. They are also used in nuclear reactors, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and high-temperature assemblies. Our niobium rings are available in custom dimensions including ring diameter, width, thickness, and shape, with surface finishes including machined, polished, and annealed.
